Meet the Teacher: Leigh Zipf is a Handi Quilter National Educator with over 30 years of quilting experience and a passion for inspiring others at the longarm. Her journey began in the early 1990s working in a boat canvas business, eventually expanding into home sewing where she taught creative sewing, quilting, and embroidery software classes.
After purchasing her first longarm machine, Leigh quickly discovered where her heart truly belonged. She shifted her focus to longarm quilting, combining her love of design with her strong background in technology. Leigh brings a unique blend of creativity and technical expertise to every class. She is especially passionate about designing quilting motifs and helping quilters unlock the full potential of their machines—whether through free-motion techniques or computerized quilting. Her teaching style is encouraging, approachable, and filled with “aha!” moments that build both confidence and skill.
Leigh believes quilting is a journey of continuous learning and creativity, and she loves guiding students as they explore new ideas, tools, and techniques. Her goal is simple: to make every quilter feel empowered, inspired, and excited to create.
