
Meet the Teacher: Lydia Rush is a textile artist and educator who has lived in Japan since 2006. She is a recognized expert in traditional Japanese culture, arts, and textiles. She frequently leads tours and workshops at events like the Quilt, Sew, craft Expos in Texas, California, Washington, and Japan. While she resides in Japan, Lydia is available several times a year for intimate group classes at her small boutique in Poulsbo, WA that is managed by her daughter, Estella. Lydia's passion is sharing cultural experiences and technical skills with others. Her extensive knowledge includes: textile production of Tsumugi, Oshima, Chirimen, as well as indigo-dyed and hand woven cotton and silks. She is proficient in Sashiko (decorative stitching) and Ikkan-Bari (basketry craft).
