Description: Create a vibrant, expressive giraffe portrait on fabric using Derwent Inktense pencils and Posca markers—no experience required. In this engaging workshop, textile artist Alessandra Völker will guide students step-by-step through techniques that bring bold color, personality, and dimension to this charming giraffe. Students will explore how Inktense pencils behave when activated with water to create luminous watercolor-style effects on fabric. You will then enhance the artwork with Posca markers, adding crisp details, highlights, and striking contrast that make the portrait come alive. Through demonstrations and hands-on practice, participants will learn how to layer colors, blend tones smoothly, and create depth and texture while working on fabric. The class is relaxed, supportive, and perfect for beginners as well as anyone interested in exploring vibrant color techniques with Inktense and Posca.
In this class you will learn how to:
• Use Inktense pencils on fabric to create rich watercolor-style color
• Blend and layer vibrant tones to add depth and dimension
• Combine Inktense and Posca markers for crisp details and highlights
• Bring personality and expression to an animal portrait
By the end of the workshop, you will have made wonderful progress on your colorful giraffe portrait and gained techniques you can use in many future textile or mixed-media projects.
