Meet the Teacher: Tricia Schroeter owns TrishTacSew Quilt Shop located in Palm Desert, California.
Trish comes from the corporate and academic worlds of publishing, high-tech, and academic research. While working full-time when her son and daughter were young, she made it a priority to volunteer in her children's classrooms every week.
Inspired by her time volunteering with creative kids and her love of making fun stuff with a sewing machine since she was a kid, she decided to ditch the corporate world and open TrishTacSew Sewing School for Kids in 2013.
When Tricia's husband, Ben, learned he had pancreatic cancer in June of 2022, he passed away a mere 3 months later. Ben was always the biggest supporter in everything Tricia did and told her to keep moving forward after he was gone. Trish knew teaching kids how to sew was not really a sustainable way to make a living, so with Ben's encouraging spirit always in her heart, she decided to expand her sewing school into a Quilt Shop! She opened TrishTacSew Quilt Shop in January 2023 and tries hard everyday to make it a happy, healing place for herself and everyone who walks in.
TrishTacSew Quilt Shop offers kids classes and summer camps as well as lots of beginner to advanced adult classes. The shop has fun, modern fabric, tons of bag making supplies and a great selection of the latest quilting notions. It also offers quilt retreats in Palm Springs every summer. Trish became a certified Laura Heine instructor in 2023 and loves the fun and creative freedom that comes with the collage quilting technique. It's like painting with fabric!
