Skill Level: Beginner

Description: This is an exploration into thread painting. Thread painting uses thread in the same way that you would draw with a pencil or paint with a brush. It's easier than you think! You will see how a flower can come to life when painted with thread. Project may vary from picture, but you will have plenty of time to perfect your thread painting. We will also try out the easiest way to applique, called slap-li-que, with no special tools or products needed. This hands-on class will give you the opportunity to immediately put into practice what you learn.

Note: This class is a sitdown longarm machine class. The skills learned in this class are transferable to a domestic machine.

Linda will cover importing and exporting fabrics, importing and exporting images and design components, making simple adjustments using EasyDraw function, creating foundation patterns, border options, how to make your designs "flow", emailing your projects, calculating block sizes, and much, much more.

Description: Modern quilting designs add a delightful, often unexpected visual layer of interest. They float under traditional pieced blocks or appliqué shapes and often include more straight lines than traditional quilting. Kathy will review tips for needles, thread and tension, etc. for domestic machines. We will practice 5 designs used for fillers and learn to create your own thread quilted creatures too. I will review ruler work and you have time to practice if you bring your own machine quilting rulers.

In this class, I will share with you some very unique, and different design ideas to change up the common grid. Learn to look at grids in a whole new way, to create unique gridwork designs that will take your quilting up a notch. Students MUST be comfortable doing rulerwork.

Description: Explore the mystery and excitement of creating a pieced abstract quilt with little or no plan. We will discuss basic design and composition, color and value, quilting, and most importantly, trusting your instincts. Students will combine thick and thin lines with curved pieces and assemble the quilt top in rows. There are infinite possibilities. Sheila will demonstrate construction techniques for sewing curved seams and discuss some of the challenges you may run into with spontaneous design and piecing.

Description: In this class we will make a wool mat that can be displayed in a purchased charger. No fusibles or buttonhole stitch required for the applique. Some basic embroidery stitches will be covered as well the applique stitch. This fun project is fast to make and will be close to completed in the class. Pattern provided.
