Description: Learn how to transform your fabric scraps into a beautiful textile with renewed purpose. Diana’s Patchwork Sashiko Method featured in her book, “Patchwork Sashiko: Transform Your Scraps” is where tradition meets the non-traditional. The look is familiar; raw edged patchwork held together by uniform running stitches, but the method of how you’ll get there is unlike what you’ve done before. You’ll learn how to create a patchwork that appears random, but is very intentional. The slow-stitching is a unique flat-lay method that provides precision and the ability to create textiles as large as you like with ease. The class starts with uniformly sized and shaped patchwork pieces to get you comfortable with the layout. Then, when you’re designing your own project later, you can utilize the fabric scraps waiting for new life in your sewing space. It’s a perfect way for helping to make your sewing practice more sustainable. This is a methods class so you won’t finish the textile, but learn everything you need to complete it on your own.
