Description: Students will have the opportunity to perfect their technique while constructing a block of May Chappell Lulee's Garden Quilt. They will leave with an arsenal of machine piecing tools and tips for perfect points. We will discuss color and fabric placement, as well as value in relation to the block layout. Students will learn about half square triangles and flying geese units. Multiple options and tools for making each of the units will be demonstrated so that students can determine the best options for themselves. A great class for students looking to improve their patchwork piecing skills. Best for intermediate and advanced piecers.

More advanced students are encouraged to move forward while I work with students requiring more hands on instruction. If time allows advanced techniques will be covered with students who are ready for them. Throughout the class period I will stop the group and demonstrate as questions arise. Before the end of our time together we will cover paper removal, finishing and quilting.

Description:The Mad Modern Beginning rulerwork class teaches template quilting using a simple 12” patchwork block as the foundation and the Westalee Rulerwork kit of tools. This format is suitable for all skill levels. No previous experience is required. Class topics include • Setting up your machine for rulerwork
• Installing the ruler foot properly
• How to move and stitch with templates
• Several designs including a center motif with echo, curved crosshatching, and two fills for smaller squares
• Techniques for Stitching in the Ditch
• Troubleshooting stitching problems and movement challenges. Loaner templates and ruler feet will be provided for use in class. You can prepare the quilt block as a quilt sandwich or just bring a quilt sandwich with the block marked on plain fabric.

This class is technique oriented. The instructor will also provide a trunk show to demonstrate the potential that rulerwork offers for your quilting projects.

Description:In this information-packed class, you will learn how to make and use templates and a placement overlay, and how to trace, cut, finger-press, pin, and stitch turned-edge applique shapes to your block. Use the needle (or toothpick) to turn the seam allowance under and sew it in place with an invisible appliqué stitch. I know that applique is the is the A-word for a lot of people but please trust me - you can do it, and you will love it! The 8˝ x 8˝ block pattern is included in the class kit. You will need the book or ebook to make the entire quilt.
