Description: Learn the basics of the beautiful, pattern filled Japanese technique of Sashiko. This class introduces students to a suite of six classic Sashiko patterns in two different styles. The patterns are pre-printed, so we can jump right into stitching while learning about the characteristics of sashiko patterns, how to prepare thread, my favorite tools and materials, and how to stitch sashiko patterns. Use your finished piece as a sampler, patches, coasters, sachets, make a pillow or anything you can imagine!

Description: Inspired by my love of paper ephemera & all things stitch related we will make art objects from needle, thread and paper, like postcards and book paper from my collection from travels and hunting around. I use this technique as an exercise in my studio - a way to warm up my creative muscles, invitating intuitive making, and playful exploration of materials, colors and textures. I'll share different approaches to stitching on paper, embroidery stitches, transferring designs and share inspirations to help inspire your exploration. Postcards can even be mailed afterwards! Or keep them as artful reminders of your experience.

Students will learn how to create stunning feathers, quickly, with Telene's tips, tricks and quirky reminders in this fun and satisfying class. 2 styles of feathers using 2 methods will be place in a block on a curved spine and in a border on a straight spine. The feathers will then be backfilled with wonderful organic pebbles in 2 styles. The world can be conquered with feathers and pebbles! One student per longarm frame machine will allow for maximum stitching time during this compact 3 hour class with achievable results and a class sample to take home.

Description: Everybody has an old pair of jeans or two in the cupboard. Maybe they don't fit anymore or maybe they are stained. Upcycling is a wonderful way to create a new item or gift without having to buy a lot of new fabrics. Students will upcycle a pair of jeans to make a useful tote bag with fun free range raw-edge applique and freemotion quilting all in one on the longarm machine. Once done, students only have to close up the sides and finish the top edge with binding. Great gifts and usable items that can be personalized without breaking the bank. Join Telene for this fun "let your hair down" class. One student per longarm frame machine will allow for maximum stitching time during this compact 3 hour class with achievable results and a class sample to take home.
