Description: Let's take a modern approach to an ancient textile art. "Arashi" translates to Storm. You can expect to create a collection of rich organic textures that resemble water, lightning, trees and more with this exciting Shibori technique. Learn several different ways to shimmy, scrunch and slide your fabric onto the pole, each resulting in a different pattern or texture. We will use Fiber Reactive Indigo Dye as a nod to tradition Shibori, as well as making a thickened Dye Paint for achieving special effects.

Dyeing Class

Kit Contents: 3 yards PFD, Fiber Reactive Dye, fixatives, gloves, mixing cups, squeeze bottle, funnel, paintbrushes and a reusable set of 3 stacking acrylic poles.

Description: Big Stitch Quilting is a great way to incorporate texture, pattern and make use of fabric scraps. In this class you will learn simple techniques to set up, design and stitch a mini quilt with an easy, fun self binding technique to finish your quilt professionally without a lot of fuss. We will work on creating a small composition of scrap, upcycled and small cuts of fabrics using simple and stunning hand-work techniques while enjoying the meditative quality of stitching.

Students gain mastery in simple machine piecing techniques, allowing them to seamlessly navigate the Confetti Quilt pattern.

Description: In this class, students will learn to expand their free motion quilting skills. Class will focus on using the three basic elements of free motion (lines, curves, and circles) to build a variety of designs. Prepare to take on the exciting world of modern machine quilting with a variety of simple techniques that will open the box to expanded concepts of machine quilting. Class includes demonstrations of burying starts and stops, comfortably moving a large quilt in a regular domestic machine, and information on tools, basting, thread choices, and practice plans.

Students can expect to construct one or more improv log cabins in class, depending on the scale you choose. Iterating on a design and quilting ideas will be discussed.

Description: Giuseppe RIbaudo of Giucy Giuce first designed his Moonstone quilt when he fell in love with English Paper piecing. Obsessed with all things hand sewing, this workshop will teach you the ins and outs of EPP. You'll learn all about fabric selection, techniques like fussy cutting and mirroring to create kaleidoscopic designs, and of course everything you need to know about basting and stitching your blocks. The best part of the workshop is when we all get to sit and stitch together! This is a stress-free and super relaxing class that will make you fall in love with EPP.

Description: Fun freehand floral designs are versatile and can be used as an all-over design or set more formally in borders and feature blocks. Students will learn 2 flowing floral designs and apply it in a border and block. Set-out points and marking will be discussed. The florals will be backfilled with wonderful grid based designs using stencils as a starting point. Another skill that adds versatility and interest to a quilt. One student per longarm frame machine will allow for maximum stitching time during this compact 3 hour class with achievable results and a class sample to take home.

Description: The use of stencils in freemotion quilting is underrated and such a helpful tool that can take the guesswork out of blank open spaces. Stencil can be used for allover designs, feature designs and borders. Student will learn to use the mighty pounce pad as an effective and time saving marking tool. A stencil design will be used as a feature design and also corner stones in a border. Piano Keys are the ultimate complimentary design against any organic feature designs. Students will learn why Piano Keys are effective to resolve fabric fullness, how to quilt it using a ruler with guide markings to keep the angle of line straight, combination of design possibilities and best machine settings required. One student per longarm frame machine will allow for maximum stitching time during this compact 3 hour class with achievable results and a class sample to take home.

Description: Ever wondered how you can incorporate more Sashiko into your quilts? Want to throw some appliqué in with that? We've got you covered. We'll use hitomezashi stitches to fill a block of space beside an applique kimono, and create a quilt block with visual depth and playful geometry. Quilt block construction will be completed on your own machine outside of class.
