Description: In this immersive 6-hour workshop, students will explore the artful union of Foundation Paper Piecing (FPP) and Appliqué to construct a breathtaking quilt block that celebrates the charm and elegance of Paris. Inspired by the iconic landmarks and hidden beauty of the City of Light, this class invites quilters to create a stunning visual “love letter” using two distinct but harmonious techniques.
Through the FPP portion of the course, students will sharpen their skills in:

--Strategically placing and positioning fabric for strong visual impact
Then, shifting to Appliqué, participants will learn:

Upcycling is a wonderful way to create a new item or gift without having to buy a lot of new fabrics. Students will upcycle a pair of jeans to make a useful tote bag with fun free range raw-edge applique and freemotion quilting all in one on the longarm machine. Description: In this class we will explore the world of geometric, repeating traditional Sashiko patterns. This class is aimed at those who have some experience with Sashiko inspired stitching and want to dive into drawing patterns by hand from scratch. A great follow up to Intro to Sashiko.
Learn to create your own Sashiko patterns drawn directly onto any fabric you wish. This allows you the most creative freedom to embellish anything from quilts, clothes & home textiles. Learn the basics of drawing sashiko patterns, how to adjust the scale, create pattern repeats, customize and mix and match patterns. In the first half of class students will work on provided materials to draw & stitch patterns. In the second half of class students expand on their new skill by creating & stitching patterns on their own items. Please bring several items to choose from. Description: This fun method has a look of the Hawaiian style of quilting, using fused applique and quilted as you go. The day would involve cutting a pattern and fabric with fusible web and then doing the stitching, allow to make at least 2 blocks on the day. Either a large 18" block design that could make a cushion or a large quilt block or a 12" quilt block.
